How To Create Plastisol Heat Transfers

Plastisol ink is known for its high-density properties and this ink is used for screen printing normally. Plastisol heat transfer printing is used with a heat press machine. In this process, you have to transfer your total design and ink onto the surface of the printed material.

When you are using plastisol ink for screen printing you have to squeeze and give pressure to mesh to create a design on your fabric surface. But in this case, the heat transfer method is used to transfer the print onto clothes.

Plastisol heat transfer

Plastisol heat transfer means you will use your plastisol ink as screen printing elements on a heat transfer paper and put it on fabric to give heat and press and design as heat press printing.

This is a kind of artwork craft for printing with adhesion and a heat press machine.

Some designs and colors would be prepared perfectly for heat transformation. That’s why you can use your plastisol ink for heat transferring printing.

Plastisol heat transfer

In general, we use hate transfer paper to print the design first and then heat and press the design for printing. Today we will know how you can create plastic solved transfers.

If you are thinking of doing heat transfer printing using plastisol ink then this article is for you.

How to create your own plastisol heat transfer

Though you are going to use plastisol ink for screen printing, so first of all you have to create your design from the screen and then place your design on a heat transfer paper.

The step-by-step process of printing with plasters ink transfer:

1. Select mesh and screen

Same as like screen printing you have to select your mesh and screen for printing first. As we know for water-based ink your mesh count has to be higher for example 130 to 160.

On the other hand, when you are going to use plastisol ink, your mesh count has to be 90 to 110. After selecting the mesh it’s time to select your screen.

Plastisol ink has high density and heavy lubricant properties. You have to create your screen for design with enough space and perfect shape.

2. Place your screen design on heat transfer paper

For heat transfer printing you must need a transfer paper to transfer all design and ink over your t-shirt. So, you have to take a heat transfer paper and transfer the design onto it.

How To Create Plastisol Heat Transfers

As usual heat transfer printing we do printing of the same paper now you are transferring your screen-printing artwork on that paper. Using squeeze and miss screen you can give screen print to your transfer paper.

3. Adhesion powder and pre-heat treatment

Now it’s time to give admission powder onto your transfer paper surface. Heat transfer paper is now wet and looks glossy after plastisol ink designing.

You have to transfer your paper to an open space where you can sink the paper’s ink portion with adhesion powder. Adhesion powder will take place over the plastisol ink and attach very well.

Note: Make sure that the place must be very dry and there has no moisture.

After giving adhesion powder over heat transfer paper, you have to give a pre-heat treatment on your heat transfer paper.

One advantage of this printing is, that heat transfer paper already has a stand with properties in high heat. Pre-heat is important to melt the dry adhesion powder over the heat transfer paper and create a wet and melt adhesive over the heat transfer paper.

The preheat temperature should be 180 to 220 degrees Fahrenheit. Give 5 to 10 minutes to melt the powder over the heat transfer paper.

Now give it some time to cool down from the heat transfer paper.

4. Heat and press your design

This section comes with the heat press method. Same as the heat press method you have to place your adhesive portion and plastisol ink part over the garments and then make sure it is situated perfectly on your fabric.

Make sure you will place an extra peel over your transfer paper.

Give heat and pressure on your heat transfer paper to print your design. After a couple of seconds for example 15 to 20 seconds you can stop giving heat and pressure. Now remove the top part of the heat transfer paper and you will see your design.

In some cases regarding heat transfer paper, the cold peel topic comes up. If the transfer paper requires a cold peel, then wait and release the paper from the fabric after it gets cold.

Business with plastisol ink heat transfer printing

The heat transfer printing machine is quite expensive. on the other hand, if you have a very good setup of the screen-printing lab but sometimes you have to do customized heat transfer design so it’s not necessary to have up heat transfer printing machine.

You can do the heat transfer printing with a heat press machine in the same way. In addition, you just need adhesion powder and extra preheat.

With these steps you can run your business with plastic solved ink. To transfer an image by plastisol, ink this method is quite beneficial.

Conclusion

Plastisol ink transfer printing is an impressive way to print screen design. Your t-shirt you can make it for your customized design or industrial purposes. Plastisol ink has good durability and stiffness over a t-shirt or polyester fabric. This is a popular screen-printing ink as well.

Besides plastisol ink, if you are thinking about water-based ink you also can do it with the same process. For water-based ink, you have to be aware of the density and adhesion property of your ink over the transfer paper.
